About

Annette, a.k.a. Random-storykeeper, is a Canadian composer who graduated in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her earliest compositions involved playing around on the piano or a tiny red synth in her house. Shortly after playing the freeware version of Cave Story, she began experimenting with ORG Maker. This later transitioned to using PxTone and ultimately FL Studio.

Random-storykeeper's love for composing was mainly fueled by online music compos - namely One Hour Compos, MusicWeeklies and Chips Compo, all contributing to a significant portion of her output in the late 2010s. Her main influences come from the indie and Flash games she played in her high school years.

In 2016, Random-storykeeper became the main composer of Team Spontaneous Combustion, a small game jam team she formed with online friends. Her contributions to TSC's first Ludum Dare entry, Spellbound, allowed the team to place in the top 25 in Audio out of 1000+ entries. Other works include music for games by tonyfinale and Neutronized.

Random-storykeeper's main modes of composition involve sequencing chiptune and synths, with the occasional incorporation of vocals. Her compositions lean more towards being atmospheric while remaining melodic in style.Â
